4th of July in Swaziland

Yes, there was a 4th of July celebration in Swaziland complete with hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, cotton candy, pop corn, a chili cook-off, volley ball, face painting, Frisbee and a home run contest. There was also a fabulous singer who sang the greatest American hits that brought tears to our eyes and then taped music of just about every song that has to do with America or the 4th of July! The celebration was put on by some Americans (of course) and was held at a field next to one of the hotels in Ezulwini. The even started around 2:00 and ended with fireworks at 6:45 (remember it is winter here so it gets dark early.) There were about 150 Americans in attendance. A good time was had by all. I must say though, Swazi hot dogs are gross and there were only a few small fireworks. But all in all it was great to be able to say “Happy Birthday America” from the other side of the world.

How did you find so many American workers in Swaziland? I'm have been in Swaziland for 2 1/2 years and would love to know about such gatherings, including your Bible study/retreat. That is, if you don't mind a Canadian in your midst.
